For Our Visitors

The Hurricane Church of Christ is the friendly church on the hill.  We love visitors and look forward to meeting newcomers to the Valley and folks traveling through!  If you are looking for a church family, we hope your search ends here.

You’ll find lots of people in great conversations, laughing, getting acquainted, and making plans.  Our congregation is a great place to make friends.  These friends become more than just acquaintances.  They become your family who will help you celebrate good times, but also be there for you when life gets rough.

Some things to expect when visiting with the Hurricane Church of Christ:

Our church family has a relaxed nature with a passion for sharing Jesus.  Feel free to dress comfortable, casual, or even wear a suit!

  • We have classes for all ages of children, as well as a Ladies’ Class and a Men’s class that begin immediately following morning services.  These classes are informal and discussion-oriented.  You may feel free to participate, but you will never be pressured to share in the discussion.
  • Our Praise & Worship Service begins at 10:00 a.m.  We will sing songs of praise, share in the Lord’s Supper, take up collection, and hear an uplifting, encouraging, and challenging sermon from God’s Word.  Each service will conclude with an invitation to become a follower of Jesus Christ.
  • After Praise & Worship Service has concluded, please plan to stay around so that we can meet you and you can meet us.

Prayer

Much of our worship service is focused on prayer. While Jesus was on earth, He spent much of His time in prayer with the Father. We try to do the same thing. We find comfort and guidance as we pray to God. It is always our prayer that God's will is done in our lives.

Singing

Another aspect of our worship service is our song service, which is a time to praise God. As we lift our voices to God in song, it is our prayer that He be glorified. We realize that it is what we say and not how we sound that matters to God.

Communion

As commanded by Jesus, and demonstrated by the early church, we take part in the Lord's Supper every Sunday. This is a memorial service instituted by Jesus to remember the sacrifice that He made on the cross for our sins. One of the men of the church will read Scripture and provide thoughts to help direct our thought during this memorial.

Offering

Each Sunday, we give everyone an opportunity to financially support the work of our church. Giving during our offering should be done out of love and not obligation. Our visitors are not expected to participate in our offering.

Scripture Reading

The public reading of Scripture is an essential part of our church. We always strive to use the Bible as our guide toward a faithful life in Christ. Each Sunday, we open our Bibles and allow the Scripture to guide our thoughts. Before the sermon, one of the men in the church will read a passage of Scripture to help direct our minds toward the topic of the morning's message.

Sermon

Each week, a message is delivered to help instruct, correct, and encourage people to be faithful to God as we live our lives. This message is normally around 20-25 minutes long. Our goal is to use this time to dive into the Scriptures and allow the Bible to direct our daily lives.

At the end of the sermon, the invitation will be offered for anyone who wants the salvation that are only offered through Christ. If you are interested in this salvation, please make your way to the front of the sanctuary to meet the minister. You will be asked to confess Jesus Christ as the Son of God and will be baptized (fully immersed in water) for the forgiveness of your sins.

If you would like to request special prayer or rededicate your life to Christ, please come forward during the invitiation hymn.
